The Gulfnews daily is reporting that more and more  patients in UAE resorts to Homeopathic treatment even though it is not covered by the medical insurance companies.

Clinics in the capital offering this form of treatment, which is common in south Asia, are reporting an influx of patients, including people from Western and Arab nations, where homeopathy is less widespread.

Diabetes linked to viral infection ?

Prenatal exposure to viruses may cause type 1 diabetes and other autoimmune diseases in children, scientists have found.

The exact cause of juvenile diabetes has eluded scientists, but a new study from Tel Aviv University suggests that the autoimmune disease is initiated in utero.

According to the research, women who contract a viral infection during pregnancy transmit viruses to their genetically susceptible foetuses, sparking the development of type 1 diabetes.

New hope for type 2 diabetes patients ?

A modified form of a drug used to eliminate intestinal parasites may treat the root cause of type 2 diabetes and not just its symptoms, scientists have found.

In type 2 diabetes the body does not produce enough insulin or the body's ability to use that insulin is degraded.

According to Victor Shengkan Jin, an associate professor of pharmacology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, a major cause of insulin resistance is the accumulation of excess fat in the cells of the liver, as well as in muscle tissue.

India, Bangladesh sign MoU on Homeopathy

India and Bangladesh signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of traditional systems of medicine and Homeopathy.

Training, research, exchanges of experts and setting up an academic chair are the highlights of this new cooperation envisaged in the MoU.

Bangladesh's health secretary M.M. Neazuddin and India's Secretary for Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturapathy Unani, Siddhi and Homeopathy (AYUSH) Nilanjan Sanyal signed the MoU in Dhaka on the sidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) regional meeting.

The India Post reports that both Ayurvedic and Homeopathic Medicine have gained tremendous growth in India. They also say that the World Health Organization states that over one billion people world wide use herbal medicines and alternatives. Many of those are in India which has a population of about 1.17 billion people.
